Warmth with Dignity: AJ Foundation Clothes Supply Project

Why clothing aid matters here

High in the hills of District Bagh, winters bite early and hard. Families in Meet Gali and neighbouring villages face freezing nights, muddy tracks, and classrooms without heating. A warm coat, sturdy shoes, or a simple school sweater can be the difference between illness and attendance, between isolation and dignity.

How the project works

  1. Community collections — We gather new and gently‑used garments from local donors and the wider diaspora, prioritising winter wear, children’s sizes, and modest clothing.
  2. Sorting & hygiene — Every item is washed, repaired if needed, and graded by age, size, and season. Nothing torn, stained, or ill‑fitting is distributed.
  3. Tailor’s bench — Local tailors mend zips, replace buttons, and resize trousers and sweaters so each piece fits well and lasts.
  4. Dignified distribution — Pop‑up “choice boutiques” let families pick what they need using tokens; door‑to‑door deliveries serve elders, widows, and people with disabilities.
  5. Records & feedback — Simple registries avoid duplication and help us restock sizes that run out first (usually toddlers’ and teen boys’ shoes).

What we provide

  • Winter Kits: insulated jacket, thermal layer, shawl/scarf, wool cap, gloves, and socks; shoes where available.
  • School Wear Packs: uniform, sweater, socks, and a basic backpack so children can attend class through the cold.
  • Baby Bundles: soft wraps, sweaters, mittens, and blankets to keep newborns warm at night.

Impact so far

Families across our twelve target villages are entering winter better prepared, with children staying in school and fewer cold‑related illnesses reported by our health aides. Local tailors and volunteers earn fair work through repairs, keeping more value inside the community.

What’s next

  • Uniform Bank for pupils who outgrow clothing mid‑term.
  • Sewing & Repair Room beside the pharmacy to upcycle and extend garment life.
  • Emergency Cold‑Snap Stock so we can mobilise kits within 24 hours after snow or rainstorms.

How you can help

  • Donate new or gently‑used coats, sweaters, shoes, socks, and schoolwear (clean and ready to wear).
  • Sew or knit hats, scarves, and gloves; join weekend repair sessions.
  • Host a collection drive at your mosque, office, or school; we’ll supply posters and pick‑up.
  • Partner as a retailer/brand to contribute overstock and returns that meet modesty and climate needs.

“Whoever clothes a believer, Allah will clothe him with the garments of Paradise.” — Hadith

Together we can wrap our neighbours in warmth and dignity—one kit, one child, one winter at a time.
